THIS WAS THE WELCOME LETTER FOR THE ACWS SAN DIEGO IN 2011. PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR UPDATED CONTENT ONCE SAN DIEGO WINS THE BID FOR AC35.

The San Diego Unified Port District is pleased to welcome you to San Diego and beautiful San Diego Bay for the America’s Cup World Series – San Diego, Nov. 12-20, 2011.

Unified Port of San DiegoHaving hosted the America’s Cup in 1988, 1992 and 1995, we’re no strangers to the prestigious event. The Bay even boasts “America’s Cup Harbor” located on Shelter Island.

This time around, we’re excited to bring the action inside San Diego Bay and allow spectators the chance to watch exhilarating sailing, sometimes just feet away from the new high-tech AC45 boats.

For spectators, San Diego Bay offers the perfect natural stadium sailing environment to experience the America’s Cup World Series from many different viewing venues. However, you’ll be amazed at all there is to do and see after the races throughout downtown and on along our waterfront. Excellent lodging, restaurants, hospitality and attractions are within close proximity from the America’s Cup Fan Experience, Event Village and Team Headquarters located at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier.

On behalf of the Port of San Diego, its member cities of Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City and San Diego, we are proud to host the America’s Cup World Series and hope you’ll join us for an electrifying nine days of world-class sailboat racing. We hope you’ll join us on the Big Bay!

Sincerely,

Scott H. Peters

Chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners
